Dear Brethren,
The congregation here at Sheffield Drive is gearing up for what we expect to be a great summer in the work here. We are very excited about the events that we have scheduled and the work that we will be doing.
The largest endeavor will be our participation with you in the campaign here in Rocky Mount on the first weekend in August. The congregation is getting the planning and scheduling figured out for the events of that week and we are all looking forward to it. The campaign was a very uplifting event last year, and I think it was beneficial in more ways than were visible.
During the summer months, we have also established a weekly day-time Bible study group on the book of Ezekiel. We will be using Jim McGuiggan’s series of video lessons to teach the course and then discussing that material and gleaning additional insights. His material on the prophets Ezekiel and Daniel, as well as the book of Revelation, is tremendous.
In addition to that, a group of about 6-8 men from the congregation are planning on attending the Spiritual Renewal weekend events of Polishing the Pulpit in Sevierville, TN (August 27-29). It is the hope that attending the weekend this year will lead to a group making it for the whole week-long event next year. This is something that I believe will lead to further growth and reaching higher potential within the male leadership of our congregation.
We are looking toward the future and striving for the present. We are seeing spiritual growth and great encouragement—especially among some of the elderly members of the congregation.
Another recent development is that we have started dispersing the “House to House—Heart to Heart” through the newspaper (as an insert). In the two issues that have gone out in the paper, we have already had more response than we had over most of the last two years. We also have tentative plans to start publishing our own “paper” of sorts that we can put out on the months that there is no House-to-House.
On a personal note, my wife, Edy, and I had our first child (picture included after the report) on May 10th. A baby boy named James Daniel. This has basically relegated me to being known as “James’ dad” or “the father” among the congregation. This is inevitable when babies arrive—the parents really are no longer important J. God has blessed us richly, and we thank you for your support which makes this continued work in Rocky Mount possible.
God Bless,
Aaron J. Cozort
